Football Team Formation For 2009 Fall Football Season
"Limitless" Football Team Formation

For 2009, SYFL is very excited to announce that it our league will play football using the fasted growing category of football classification in the United States, and the category that is most highly recommended by our Parent Organization, American Youth Football, THE ALL AMERICAN DIVISION.

We at SYFL have termed this team formation strategy as "LIMITLESS" as it allows all kids to play football.

The following graphic summarizes the rules that will be followed for team formation:

Note:  As of 2009, all Freshman players must play for their High School teams.  For info regarding the Simsbury High School Football Program, please visit their website at www.simsburygridiron.org.

2009 Letter From Our League President:

Trojan Families, Effective February 9th, I will assume the position of President of the Simsbury Trojan Youth Football and Cheer organization (SYFL). I accept this position with great appreciation and enthusiasm, and feel fortunate for the opportunity to advocate for the boys and girls in the program. I want to thank our new Board of Directors for their support and vote of confidence in selecting me for this position.

The year round commitment to excellence in football and cheer is only possible due to the selfless dedication of our Board of Directors. Meeting monthly with an open forum policy, our Trojan Board has grown to include the following members and positions:
Past President/Incoming Commissioner: Eric Lenhart

Director of Coaching: Mike Lancaster
Vice President Football Operations: Tim Thompson

Treasurer: Chris Bombara
Director of League Administration: Emily Magaw

Web Manager: John Helmkamp
Director of Volunteer Operations: Pam Lindley

Directors at Large: Kurt Hallenbeck /
Director of Field Maintenance: John Ruszbatsky

Scott Salisbury
Director of Equipment and Storage: Gary Faraci

Your Trojan Board of Directors understands that your family has multiple choices for fall athletics. In addition to soccer and fall baseball, our community offers another worthy youth football and cheer program that meets the needs of their families as well. We at SYFL wish continued success to their organization.

This year, SYFL will continue to provide the best possible value for your football and cheer fees. These fees not only offset the expense of state-of-the-art safety equipment, they make possible various activities and functions designed to enhance the Trojan community experience. Participation in holiday parades, unique football and cheer t-shirts, annual family barbeque, and a year end celebration featuring team highlight films, scholastic awards, and trophies, are just some examples of activities included in your registration fees. SYFL will again host the annual fund raising Golf Tournament and Dinner Dance, which is a fantastic way to promote a sense of community among our families and celebrate the start of a new and exciting season.

Last season’s year end Football and Cheer Celebration was a huge success made possible by a subcommittee of volunteers. This amazing celebration demonstrates the impact volunteers have on our organization.  This year we are fortunate to have Pam Lindley on our board as the Director of Volunteer Operations.  Pam and I will be recruiting volunteers to assist in a myriad of activities at all levels of involvement. Coaches and board members simply cannot continue to coordinate all the activities that make our program a wonderful experience for our children. Becoming a volunteer is a great way to get involved in your child’s experience.

The success of the SYFL program is a result of continued support by families and local businesses. Our dedicated coaches and volunteers instill life lessons of safety and sportsmanship, while ensuring great fun along the way. Safety combined with providing the children a positive and rewarding experience is our organization’s number one priority. We look forward to continued cooperation as new families join our organization.

Our season will commence on August 3rd, and we anticipate it to be a season like no other.  We will be communicating again in the near future announcing more exciting changes and opportunities. I look forward to seeing all the returning Trojan Families, and meeting the new Trojan Families that will join our organization for a safe, fun and memorable experience.
Sincerely,
Frank Salls
